Huawei, a leading global information and
communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, sponsored the fifth
International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that took
place from October 4 to 6 in Berlin, Germany. It was jointly organized by
Humboldt-Universiät zu Berlin and several well known scientific and political
institutions.
The conference was the opportunity to address the
future of CSR by exploring whether more collaboration between the most relevant
global entities can bring more consistency across different institutions. More
than 550 participants attended the event.
Alan Aicken, Vice President of Supplier
Sustainability Management, Huawei, referred in a speech to the significance of
CSR for a worldwide leading ICT-provider, “Sustainability plays a crucial role
in our CSR activities. Our clients expect us to adapt, embrace and drive
sustainability principles and actions throughout the total supply chain.”
Huawei believes that fulfilling corporate social
responsibilities everywhere we operate is crucial to maintaining sustainable
development and promoting harmony in the natural environment, the industry
chain, and among our employees and communities. We define CSR and
Sustainability management as a strategic priority and have strengthened our
efforts to fulfill the commitments we have made to customers, caring for our
employees, bridging the digital divide, protecting the environment, pursuing
technological innovations, adhering to ethical principles regarding procurement
and business, and giving back to society.
